12 Days of Anime Day 7: Tits & Hero

Next Spice & Wolf my ass

Let me begin by stating that I legitimately dug the beginning to this, I kind liked the no-names gimmick and it didn’t show any signs that of that it would tackle it’s world issues in a boring, shallow way. Thing is, I still like the fact that the characters never had any names, since they all turned out to be boring and predictable stereotypes at the end of the day so there’s really no point in giving them names for me to remember. The show is also pretty guilty of having terrible, terrible romance in the form of a love triangle that never gets resolved (like plenty of other things, since the ending doesn’t resolve a thing). This show’s idea of a good romance is to have a silly love triangle that only takes focus away from the already badly told plot.

If there’s any one thing that bothered me most about the plot of Tits & Hero was the fact that it pretty much gives you the plot through dialogue. Yep, we don’t get to see the cool stuff that Hero does in to fill in the show’s numerous time-skips. Nah, let’s just have (insert unmemorable side character) tell us what went down instead! This can be attributed to budget restraints and a short air-time, but I see no reason to make excuses for something that fails to be engaging.

So what we ended up getting was a show with a perhaps a slew of interesting themes that got shafted/never resolved and some fanservice. Still, not too bad for something that 2channers whipped up I guess. But bad nonetheless

  1. I felt like there was a decent story going on underneath this show, but the main problem was that it was way too rushed; cramming two volumes of the LN into one cour.

I also got the feeling that with it’s reliance on dialogue to tell the story, the LN series just might not have made for good source material in the first place. Telling a story through dialogue tends to be a lot easier to pull off when it’s within literature rather than a visual medium like anime.

The love triangle and breast humor were indeed bullshit though.
